Installations, objects, paintings

Ona B. is an Austrian artist with Czech roots living in Vienna. In 1973-78, she studied under professor Adolf Frohner at the Hochschule für angewandte Kunst in Vienna. She has worked in Europe, America, and Asia, and her art projects are known throughout the world. Her art works and distinctive installations have been seen in the Czech Republic as well, at exhibitions in Prague, Český Krumlov, and Pilsen. The exhibition at Klenová represents a look back at her work in recent years, accompanied by artifacts created during her residency in Istanbul and her time spent working at Villa Paula in Klenová.

A careful observer of Ona B’s work is familiar with several decades of her sensitive works, which border on ritual. She presents her sensitive message about our journey through life and about events related to her intense view of the world in the form of artistic artifacts with a perhaps imperceptible sense of exaggeration and a light erotic subtext, accentuated by the use of red color. Her art allows her to combine the chaos of the real world with the depths of her own fantasy. She has a deep-seated need to express herself regarding events around her. This artistic transcription is so important and natural for her that she cannot imagine her life without it.

The works installed inside the Klenová Chateau and on the castle compound offer a view of the artist’s past work as well as works created directly on site during her residency here.
