Faust - czech-german comics symposium and exhibition at Klenová

28 Aug. 2019, 4pm, Klenová – lecture by leading Czech comics theorist Pavel Kořínek

The goal of the third comics symposium is to take a unique approach to that great literary phenomenon – Goethe's extended poem Faust, which is equally known and as frequently cited in both the Czech Republic and Germany. The uniqueness of this comic-book adaptation rests in the decision to divide the original story into nine parts, each of which will be illustrated by a different comics artist. The project thus differs from the symposium's previous years in that it already has a fixed subject matter and storyline. The participating artists are: Marie Kohoutová, Marek Berger, Karel Osoha, Viktor Svoboda, Anna Kucharčíková, Janna Klävers, Antonia Kühn, Milena Kaszuba, and Jörg Hartmann.

The symposium and exhibition have been made possible in part through financial support from the Czech-German Fund for the Future.
