On three levels inside the Klenová Granary, the exhibition “Nearby and within striking distance” presents three independent sets of works by artists from the Pilsen region (Raunerová+Bauer) and Paris (Voskovcová+Síkora), and by a wanderer of lands and continents (Josef Hnízdil).

Dana Raunerová – renowned west Bohemian painter and designer, art educator, poet and author. Her paintings and drawings are known both regionally and abroad. In recent years, she has worked heavily with designs on porcelain and artistic photography.

Milan Bauer – this Pilsen-based printmaker, originally a ceramic artist, works on his picturesque topics in his studio. In addition to creating his own work, he also does graphic design for the west Bohemian magazine Vítaný host (Welcome Guest).

Vlasta Voskovcová – painter and illustrator; has been living and working in Paris since 1969. She most frequently exhibits in conjunction with her Paris-based Czech colleague Miloš Síkora, and this year’s exhibition at the Klenová Granary is no exception. Their exhibition “All the Evenings of the World/Tous les soirs du Monde” is complemented by director Martin Vlček’s film Antihero.

Josef Hnízdil – Hnízdil left Bohemia in 1974, first settling in France. After one year at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he moved to New York, where he lived and worked until 1991, when he decided to return permanently to Prague. The main subject of his sculptures and paintings is the human skull, which in the past decade has been joined by portraits.
