20th Summer Ceramic Sculpture

20th Summer Ceramic Sculpture
15.06.2012

Klenová Castle
24. 6. - 31. 10. 2012

The 20th Summer Ceramic Sculpture returns to Klenová Castle. Originally a student event, since being founded in Bechyně in 1993 the exhibition has transformed into a unique outdoor presentation of ceramic sculpture by Czech and foreign artists. The exhibition was originally held at the Bechyně monastery gardens, and in 2006 to 2010 in the castle gardens at the Museum of Central Bohemia in Roztoky near Prague.

Many of the sculptures are created or selected by the curators specifically with Klenová Castle in mind. All works are made of ceramics or porcelain, sometimes in combination with other materials.

The core of exhibiting artists is relatively stable, but each year the exhibition adds new artists, including foreign guests, university students, and one honorary guest (past guests have included sculptors Jan Hendrych, Miloslav Chlupáč, Pavel Knapek, Jan Koblasa, Pravoslav Rada, Václav Šerák, Lubomír Šilar, Bohumil Zemánek, Elžbieta Grosseová, Jindra Viková, and Mojmír Preclík).

The exhibition’s aim is to present ceramic art by a wide range of sculptors or ceramic artists of all ages, and to place this art within the context of the contemporary art world.

The exhibition opening will feature an interesting cultural program.
